The aims of the workshop are to equip your staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a climate of trust and support for the child in the work environment.

The objectives of the course are:

a)	Identify the various forms of child abuse
b)	Describe their role to help safeguard children and help to prevent the various forms of child abuse
c)	Apply the definition of Significant Harm
d)	Identify motivators, inhibitors and the grooming process in relation to Paedophiles
e)	Identify with the protocols that support the first response interview

Course Outline:

What is abuse

	-	Define the terms of Neglect, and Sexual, Physical and Emotional abuse
	-	Explore various forms of abuse using case study material
	-	Recognising signs and symptoms exhibited in children
	-	Impact of abuse on the child
	-	Understanding the need to deal with disclosure sensitively

Identify with the legislative content of the Children Act

	-	Welfare of the Child is paramount
	-	Significant Harm
	-	Child in Need
	-	Child Protection
